Statement on passing of Milton W Taylor CBE

NSW Farmers mourns the passing of Milton W Taylor CBE, a keen agricultural advocate and past president of the Association.

Mr Taylor was pivotal in the formation of the Livestock and Grain Producers Association of NSW in the late 1970s when the United Farmers’ & Woolgrowers’ Association of NSW amalgamated with the Graziers’ Association of NSW. Together with his predecessor, Rod Black, Mr Taylor led a vigorous campaign to convince members of the need for unity.

NSW Farmers President Xavier Martin paid tribute to Mr Taylor, calling him a champion of the Australian wheat industry and the national marketing pool, and extended his sympathies to family and friends.

“Milton was one of those great country gentleman with a strong intellect who worked hard for his industry and community,” Mr Martin said.

“Not only did he play a key role in our organisation’s history, serving as inaugural president of the LGPA from 1978-79, he was also very active in the community, helping establish the now-iconic Henty Machinery Field Days.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Milton’s family and friends, and thank them for sharing him with us.”
